A new year.

Great turnout at the January meeting!  Happy to see so many new brewers and you oldies too.  We're working on a major website overhaul, but for the time being keep an eye on the forums and the lefthand side of this page for news and upcoming dates.

Meeting structure will be just a tad different this year beginning in February... we'll still do something somewhat "educational" at most meetings, but we'll also have a monthly STYLE CALENDAR so there is a bit more focus on what we are sampling and we can all educate ourselves a little on the BJCP style guidelines.

In 2012 we're keeping the best of the clubs traditions... Meetings, picnics, Summertime Brews Festival, Oktoberfest, Skirmish, and a Christmas party.

We're also going try some new stuff!  Encourage participation in other clubs' competitions, put a little more focus on BJCP styles, Brewery field trips to Raleigh and Asheville, monthly organized "open brews" where YOU invite people to YOUR brewery and brew that month's style, and we'll do a "BIG BREW" this year (American Barleywine... we're working on a date... please get into the forum and post if you are interested).

It's January, so please pay $25 dues for the year at http://www.battlegroundbrewers.com/dues.html .  Guaranteed best $25 you'll spend all year.

Finally, a huge thanks to Mike Andrews, Stephen Klepper, Ed Guyer, and Dan Borque for stepping up to the task of being board members this year.  The 5 of us will do everything we can to make things run smoothly... but it's really about YOUR participation that makes the club fun and interesting!

Cheers,

Derick
